The male menopause has always been a hot topic for discussion; with many within the medical community arguing that it is a purely psychosomatic condition.

Men suffering from prostate cancer may be more than twice as likely to suffer from potentially life-threatening blood clots according to researchers at King’s College School of Medicine, London.
The study looked at blood clot rates in 76600 Swedish men who’d been diagnosed with prostate cancer between 1997 and 2007. Out of this sample, 30642 had received hormone therapy, 26432 had undergone surgical intervention whilst the other 19562 men were under ‘active surveillance’ – in other words, their condition was being closely monitored but they were receiving no direct treatment.

Research published in the Journal of Lipid Research suggests that a lack of the Omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) may significantly reduce male fertility.
Scientists at the University of Illinois made the discovery as part of ongoing research to understand the key roles played by Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in the body.
Using genetically engineered mice that lacked the ability to produce an enzyme (delta-6-desaturase) which is essential for the synthesis of DHA, researchers noted that the mice suffered not only from extremely low sperm levels, but that the sperm they did produce was of such abnormally low quality that their motility (ability to swim) was also severely impaired. How long should the average guy actually last when having sex? Of course, it’s a pretty subjective issue…what might seem too quick for one guy, may seem like a marathon sex session for the next. The crux of the matter of course is whether it’s causing you or your partner any anxiety of frustration. But nevertheless…in order to set the record straight, here’s an overview of what researchers throughout the years have had to say. Read the rest of this entry »
